Meet Orvel

Certified Nutrition and Diet Specialist

Orvel Douglas is an Author and Certified Nutrition and Diet Specialist with the International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC). He was born in Birmingham, England, in 1964 and moved to the United States in 1993. His journey into nutrition started over 20 years ago when he weighed about 198 pounds and did not like how he looked or felt. So, Mr. Douglas started reading books on nutrition and immediately started changing his diet and exercising.

“It was about prevention rather than cure,” stated Orvel. At a younger age, he would see his family members fit and well, and when they became a certain age, they would become sick. This got Orvel thinking that this would also be his destination if he didn’t alter his course.

“I didn’t really know what to do until I started to research the connection between healthy living and disease. I started to read lots of fitness and nutrition books, and then I decided to get in shape.”

Orvel lost 50 lbs in eight weeks and transformed his body into a lean, muscular physique. This was over 20 years ago, and he promised himself that he would remain that way, which he has at almost 60 years of age. Many friends and family suggested to him that he should go to school for nutrition because of what he accomplished, and that is exactly what he did.

Going back to school, led Orvel into following a vegan diet because, in his words, “Out of all the different types of dietary lifestyles we were taught, a vegan diet resonated with me.”

After becoming a vegan, Orvel researched a raw vegan diet through a few Facebook groups. He was always up for a challenge to try something new, so this is what he did. He followed that diet for about three years. It was a great diet, but he was looking for something very simple rather than preparing foods through dehydrating,. The majority of the raw vegan diet was heavily based on nuts and seeds, if it wasn’t just an ordinary salad, but that would be boring every day. Orvel said becoming a Fruitarian happened by accident. He didn’t know anything about being a fruitarian. He just naturally progressed into eating only fruits because it was less time-consuming. All he had to do was just eat with no preparation. This worked for Orvel because of his busy lifestyle.

The Fruit Feast Challenge

The Fruit Feast Challenge came about by my posting what I eat on a daily basis and my exercise routine. Most people could not understand how I would have so much energy eating fruits alone, so I decided to create a challenge for the whole month so that everyone could understand what I was feeling.

After the very first challenge I created back in 2016, I started receiving messages from people that their diseases disappeared. Like high blood pressure, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, erectile dysfunction, high cholesterol plus a wide range of other diseases. Because I didn’t have anything to cure this was remarkable hearing this.
